Trade Unions hold internal elections at 1, 2 or 3 year intervals as dictated by their individual constitution. However, in order for the election results to be official, the elections must be presided over by the Registrar of Trade Unions.

Eligibility

The trade union’s constitution must support the elections at the proposed time.

Process

Notify the Registrar of Trade Unions of the date, time, and place of the election, in writing.
Execute election at the proposed date and time.

Turn-around time

This varies based on the size of the union and polling venues involved.

Deadline

The registrar of trade unions must be informed of the date, time and place of the elections at least 7 business days prior to the intended meeting.
