The Primary School Track and Field event is an annual national competition for primary school students, in which they may participate in triple jump, soft ball throw, long jump, high jump and running events. Persons interested in participating in the competition must apply to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Department of Sports.
All participants must be enrolled in a government or private primary school and must be between ages 5 – 16.
- The Department of Sports will send out packages to all primary schools requesting that they identify interested participants for the Primary School Track and Field Competition.
- The Physical Education teacher must then fill out and submit the application to the Department of Sports. The application will include all proposed competitors, along with a copy of the first four pages of the passport of each competitor.
- The Physical Education teacher will then be advised of the dates for the Scratch Meet.
- The Technical Director of the meet, along with the coaches and manager of the team, conduct a scratch meet to make final adjustments to the day’s proceeding.
