Nutrition plays a major role in diabetes prevention and management. Yet, adherence to good nutrition and proper meal planning are often the most challenging aspects of diabetes care. Diabetics who attend the Public Health clinic are referred to attend diabetes self-management education sessions. The 4 week nutrition sessions include a series of topics such as “What is diabetes”, “Carbohydrate Counting & Food labels” and “Proper Meal Planning”.
