The Government of The Bahamas is committed to making home ownership accessible and affordable for all citizens. The tendering facility allows suitably qualified Surveyors, Engineers and Infrastructure Contractors to tender for contracts with the Department of Housing for infrastructure installation in Government subdivisions.  All open tenders are advertised to the General Public.


Eligibility 

Surveyors, Engineers Infrastructure Contractors (road, electrical, water and sewerage, telephone) or Builders who are Bahamian citizens or permanent residents, and are registered with the relevant agencies i.e. Surveyors’ Board & Department of Lands and Surveys, Engineers’ Board, Ministry of Works, Water & Sewerage Corporation, Bahamas Electricity Corporation, Bahamas Telecommunications Company and Subdivisions Section of The Ministry of the Environment and Housing.

  1. Interested parties must collect the tender package (Request for Proposal - RFP) from the

  1. Applicants on all other family islands may collect the RFP from the Freeport and Abaco offices, however ALL proposals must be submitted to the address stipulated in the RFP.
  2. The tendering instructions and fees vary from tender to tender. Details of the tendering process are included with each tender notice.
  3. The Department of Housing may conduct a pre-bid meeting for all bidders.  All bidders must attend the pre-bid meeting as specified in the RFP.
  4. Once the addendum is issued, the Department of Housing may invite contractors to conduct site visits prior to the submission of proposals.
  5. Once all necessary activities are completed and barring no extension, the contractor is required to submit the proposal as instructed in the RFP.
  6. The Department of Housing will evaluate all proposals and make a recommendation to the relevant authority.
  7. Once a determination is made, the Department of Housing will issue a letter of intent to the winning contractor stating that (s)he has been awarded the contract.  Letters are also issued to unsuccessful bidders.  
  8. The contractor must report to the Department of Housing to sign the contract.

Tender documents vary from tender to tender.  However, all Ministry of Housing Tenders require that contractors submit the following along with other required tender documents.    

  • Proof that the company is Bahamian-owned
  • Certificate of Good Standing
  • National Insurance Certificate
  • Valid Business Licence
  • Professional Liability Insurance
  • Worker Insurance
