Bahamas Ferries seeks to hire from the communities of ABACO, employees to work aboard the company passenger vessels providing daily ferry service from Marsh Harbour, ABACO as listed below:
• CAPTAINS:
- Minimum of five (5) years in command of a passenger vessel
- Bahamian A Class Master License (500T minimum) preferred
- Posse and demonstrate excellent ship handling and navigational skills
- Possess and demonstrate good management, organizational and leadership skills, and sound maritime knowledge
- STCW certificate for position
- Ability to mentor, council subordinates
• MATES:
- Minimum of three (3) years bridge/deck experience aboard a passenger vessel
- Bahamian B Class Master License (200T minimum) preferred
- Posse and demonstrate excellent ship handling and navigational skills
- Possess and demonstrate good supervisory, organizational and leadership skills, and sound maritime knowledge
- STCW certificate for position
- High School Diploma
• ENGINEERS:
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in the mechanical engineering field, preferably aboard passenger vessels; or four (4) years at a tertiary education facility in an engineering program
- Possess and demonstrate good organizational and leadership skills, and sound maritime knowledge
- STCW certification for position
- Possess and demonstrate excellent mechanical aptitude and sufficiently competent to perform tasks appropriate to position (rank)
• DECKHANDS:
- Minimum of two (2) years experience aboard a passenger vessel
- Knowledge of ship related duties
- High School Diploma
- STCW certification for position
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Be computer literate
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Provide great customer service, be friendly and willing to interact with passengers
• Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment
• Be in good health
• Be drug free (pre employment drug test are mandatory)
• Posse a professional demeanor and appearance
