Increments
Normal Increments
An officer receives an increment annually on the anniversary of his appointment, or; promotion for satisfactory service during the prior year. Increments are withheld upon approval of a recommendation by the Permanent Secretary for either unsatisfactory service, or; misconduct.
Accelerated Increments
- An Accelerated Increment may be granted in accordance with Section 7(a) of The Public Service Act in the case where the officer, in the opinion of The Public Service Commission possesses, or; acquires sufficient qualification to justify the advance of his salary by one Increment.
- The Public Service Act also provides for the grant of Accelerated Increments by reason of meritorious service, in accordance with Section 7(b) of The Act. These Increments however, are not at present being granted.
- A 7(A) Increment may be awarded to officers who have successfully undertaken an approved course of study for a period of six (6) months or more in accordance with The Public Service Act. The exception is only made for Nurses who have attained certificates after taking courses of three (3) months or more in duration.
Note: 7(A) increments can only be awarded if the officer is not at the maximum of their scale.
