After a period of 3 years, a child cannot be registered. However a Pink Card or Search Card can be issued. This Search Card along with a Sworn Affidavit will be accepted in the absence of a birth certificate.
Persons wanting to register the birth of a child that is more that three years old.
To record the birth of an infant that is over three years old, the following steps should be taken:
- Submit Proof of Birth (letter from the hospital, clinic card, letter from school, baptism certificate or in some cases a Voter’s Card) to the Birth Section of the Registrar General’s Department.
- A search will then be carried out for the birth.
- If the birth is not found, a numbered “Pink Card” is issued. This card indicates that no record of the registration was found.
Note:
- The Pink Card is a onetime issuance.
- The Pink Card should be attached to the Affidavit. The Affidavit will only be recognized as an official document when a Pink Card is attached.
- It is recommended that the Affidavit be recorded in the Deed and Document section of the Registrar General's Department.
- At this time, this service is only provided in New Providence and Grand Bahama at the Registrar General’s Department.
There is no application form for this service.
Proof of birth.
If all documents are submitted at the time of registration, the process should take about four days. There are no deadlines for this service.A fee of BS$5.00 is charged for this service.
